Just One
Sometimes you will hear of a person speaking about that one life changing experience, that one thing that changed everything for them. Maybe it was that one woman who changed your view about love, maybe it was that one man that made you feel whole again, maybe it is that one person you look forward to seeing that makes your day brighter or maybe it was that one trip that made you feel differently about life in general.
The same can be said for children and finding their gifts. It is incumbent upon the parents to work hard to expose their children to life experiences that allow them to find out what their gifts and talents are. Take them camping, take them on road trips, let them eat different cuisine, let them see a reality outside of where they are so that they can know that there is so much more to life than the street corner or a drab classroom.
It may be that one family trip to the south that will spark your child's interest in history. Or, it may be looking at the geographical change in land that may spark the child's interest in geography. Even something as simple as a train ride to the business districts of the city may spark their desire to build high-rises and bridges. But you nor your child will ever know what sparks their interests if they are not exposed to other aspects of life and other experiences.
All it takes is just one experience, just one person, just one time to open a whole new door of experiences and opportunities for our children and maybe even ourselves.
